Government Urged to Implement Property Agent Certification

Property agents across Indonesia are calling on the government to implement a nationwide property agent certification program.

This certification is seen as essential for recognizing property agents as professionals in marketing both primary and secondary properties. Additionally, it aims to enhance the agents’ performance and professionalism.

Bharat Buxani, Senior Vice President of Marketing at a leading property marketplace in Indonesia, emphasized the importance of industry players supporting property agents in improving their skills.

“Since we act as an intermediary marketplace, we can discuss with the Minister of Housing the main requirements for property agent certification. This meeting is the first opportunity for Minister Maruarar Sirait to engage directly with agents,” Bharat said, as reported by Tribunnews.com.

Aiming for Nationwide Certification

Indonesia’s National Professional Certification Agency has officially granted a Remote Competency Testing license to the Indonesia Professional Certification Body. This organization is tasked with conducting professional competency tests for property agents and brokers.

This initiative, which enables remote and paperless certification processes, is a step toward protecting the property agent profession while enhancing agent quality to meet the evolving demands of the dynamic property market.

The policy aligns with National Professional Certification Agency’s Chairman Decision No. Kep.2287/BNSP/IX/2024, signed on September 23, 2024, by Syamsi Hari.

According to Adi Mahfudz, the agency’s Commissioner for Licensing, the license aims to widen access to certification for property agents nationwide. The remote certification system eliminates geographical barriers, allowing agents from all regions to gain recognition for their competencies.

Goals of the Remote Competency Testing License

The issuance of this license aims to boost the professionalism, recognition, and pride of property agents. Additionally, it strengthens the competitiveness of Indonesian property agents in the global market.

The license for Indonesia Professional Certification Body  marks a significant milestone in recognizing the property agent profession in Indonesia. It improves certification access and efficiency by enabling agents to complete the process online via the app at lsp-agenproperti.com.

“With this license, LSP Area Indonesia can conduct competency tests using verified digital technology from BNSP, ensuring the validity and integrity of the results,” said Afrinal Dharmawan, Executive Director of LSP Area Indonesia, quoting propertynbank.com

The remote certification system includes all steps, from registration and document verification to competency testing, conducted entirely online.

“This system is expected to accelerate the certification process without compromising the quality of assessments. BNSP will continue monitoring to ensure the certification adheres to national standards,” explained Ella Nurlaela, a Competency Assessor and Quality Manager at LSP Area Indonesia.

Supporting the Property Industry’s Growth

The collaboration between National Professional Certification Agency  and Indonesia Professional Certification is expected to strengthen efforts to improve the quality of property agents in Indonesia through an accessible and efficient certification system.

Furthermore, data from a major property marketplace indicates a 16% growth in property searches, particularly in Jakarta and South Tangerang.

Secondary housing remains in higher demand due to abundant supply and readiness for occupancy compared to primary housing.

Certification for property agents is anticipated to enhance their credibility and build consumer trust, ultimately driving growth in the property market.
