Global accommodation reservation platform Booking.com has stated that Bali is one of the top holiday home destinations for Asia-Pacific travelers, especially for culinary-based travel experiences.
In their updated report, “Taste of Home Asia Pacific”, Booking.com found that more and more travelers are choosing holiday homes where they can cook, host, and enjoy meals in authentic, one-of-a-kind spaces. Food isn’t just about eating—it’s about connecting with local culture and making memories that stick.
“We’re seeing a lot of searches across the region. Bali is a key destination being sought after, but nearly every country is now showing strong interest in this type of accommodation,” said Laura Houldsworth, Managing Director of Booking.com Asia Pacific.
The report is based on a survey of over 8,000 travelers from Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam, conducted online between July 25–28, 2025.
What This Means for Bali
Laura also shared that Bali is seeing a big spike in demand for private villas, cozy cabins, and even glamping spots. People want more than just a place to sleep, they’re after unique stays that feel personal and immersive.
The survey focused on travelers who’ve booked or stayed in short-term rentals, both locally and abroad. It was put together by YouGov, Red Havas, and Booking.com to help property owners better understand what guests are really looking for.
“These findings also empower property owners to better understand traveler preferences and plan for guest needs, ultimately helping support the local economy,” Laura added.
Why Now’s a Great Time to Invest in Bali
Let’s be honest, travelers today want more than just a hotel room. They’re looking for meaningful experiences. They want to cook, explore, and feel like they’re part of the local vibe. And Bali is the perfect stage for all of that.

There are still plenty of affordable options in hotspots like Ubud, Canggu, and Seminyak, and even quieter gems like Tabanan if you’re after peace and privacy. Whether it’s a tropical escape or a smart rental investment, Bali has the charm and the numbers to make it work.
